John Downey – 25-Year Police Veteran & Franchise Advisor

John is a dynamic and multifaceted individual, driven by a passion for entrepreneurship and a commitment to public service.  With a career spanning over four decades, he has significantly impacted various industries and excelled in his roles as a business owner and police officer.

In December 1980,  John embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by starting a window tinting business in his parents garage.  In 1987 he founded Prestige Motoring Accessories, Inc. in Brea, California.  What began as a modest window tint shop blossomed into a thriving enterprise offering a comprehensive range of automotive accessories. With a dedicated team of specialists on board,  John expanded the company's product and service offerings, successfully establishing it as a premier destination for automotive enthusiasts.  His innovative approach to vehicle preparation for advertising set him apart, as he pioneered the practice of tinting all windows, including windshields, to captivate viewers' attention on the vehicle itself.  Additionally, he ventured into the realm of high-end home theater design, creating immersive and technologically advanced entertainment spaces for discerning clients.

In January 1994, John's unwavering desire to serve the community led him to pursue a career in law enforcement.  He began his journey as a transit police officer before transitioning to the esteemed Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).  John's tenure at the LAPD showcased his versatility and dedication to protecting and serving the citizens of Los Angeles.  Throughout his 25 years on the force, he worked diligently in patrol and detective roles, as well as many specialized units.  His commitment to excellence and outstanding performance earned him diverse opportunities and commendations.  Notably, his final assignments within the department included serving in the Training Division as a firearms instructor, where he was appointed Chief Instructor and Assistant Officer-In-Charge of the Patrol Rifle/Tactical Shotgun Unit.  In this role, John played a pivotal role in shaping the skills and expertise of fellow officers, contributing to the department's overall effectiveness.
